Vivienne Robertson

Instructor – BHSAI

I have over 35 years experience of working in the horse industry. I trained at Crabbet Park Equestrian Centre and gained my BHSAI in 1976. I have worked in a variety of yards working with a variety of clients and horses.

I have been working at Chessington Equestrian Centre for many years now and enjoy teaching all standards of rider with the aim to get each rider riding to the best of their ability.

Marie Rutter

Instructor – BHSAI

I started riding and being involved in the lovely world of horses at the tender age of 4, when my mother took me to our local riding school and I became hooked!

At the earliest opportunity, I started to loan and share ponies to have lots of fun with, then eventually managed to buy Domino, my very own pony.  Domino and I then started to compete at local shows and did very well jumping at BSJA Level.

College was the next step where I studied my National Diploma in the Management of Horses, my Stages 1 & 2 and Riding & Road Safety.

Whilst at College I continued to compete frequently in Dressage, Show Jumping and 1 Day Event Cross Country.

I started working at Chessington Equestrian Centre about 17 years ago, have my own horse and have taught my own children to ride who also compete at BSJA events.  I love to teach a wide variety of clients with differing needs and am still thoroughly enjoying my chosen career!!

Steve Banting

Freelance instructor – BHSII

I have been riding since I was 6 years old and, being the son of a farmer, it was easy for me to have my own pony.  I was a member of The Pony Club till my late teens, taking part in lots of activities including Cross Country and Tetrathlon (riding cross country, swimming, running and shooting).

I trained for my Assistant Instructors Exam in 1977-78 and my Intermediate Instructors Exam in 1980.

From 1979 to 1987, I worked as an Instructor and progressed on to help set up Riding Schools for other people.

I started working at Chessington Equestrian Centre in the spring of 1988 to help get the riding school side of the business up and running and now work here on a freelance basis.

I love seeing people progressing, enjoying their riding and just being around horses

Tammy Brown

Junior Instructor – NVQ Level 3

“If we’ve had a smile and a laugh this lesson, I’ve done my job right.”

That’s the philosophy I take with me into every lesson. From the moment I started riding at age 11 I knew I wanted a life filled with horses. Any excuse to have something equine related, from books to toys to just pretending I was a pony in the backyard, horses are the life I want to live. I believe there is a solution to every problem, and every problem a fun and exciting challenge meant to be taken head on with a smile and a laugh.

I’ve worked on several yards in both South Africa and the UK, where my teaching style has always remained the same, kindness breeds a happy pupil. My focus is on confidence building and riding the horse the way they want to be ridden. I’ve worked with thoroughbreds (and had my own trained from off the track to jumping 80cm), arabs, warmbloods and cobs. Sport horses are a favourite of mine, giving them a job to do makes me a very happy person. My work in the UK helped me gain my qualifications as an NVQ Level 3 Equine Manager, as well as reignite my passion for teaching after a 5 year hiatus.

I look forward to many years of helping people enjoy horse riding, educating the next generation of equestrians, and working with these amazing animals we love so dearly.

Office / ReceptionBHS Stage 2, Riding & Road Safety

I have been working at Chessington Equestrian Centre since April 2010, and have to say, I quite like it!!

I started riding when I was 5 years old and have always had a love of horses.  I hadn’t ridden much in the last 10 years but working here has given me the opportunity to get back in the saddle and rekindle my love of riding. I now ride as often as I can and am enjoying improving my technical skills in the school as well as enjoying hacking, jumping and cross country. I’m also quite fond of a Sponsored Ride or two!

As the “Office Lady”, I am the first port of call when visiting the yard, whether it be over the phone or in person.  I am responsible for taking your bookings and payments, to give as much information as I can and to answer any queries you may have.  Please, give me a call, am looking forward to hearing from you!!!
